Apteka.ru leads the top 15 e-commerce players on the retail pharmacy market

By a considerable margin, Apteka.ru leads the top-rated e-commerce resources on the Russian retail pharmacy market as of the end of the Q1 and Q2 2020.

By a considerable margin, Apteka.ru leads the top-rated e-commerce resources on the Russian retail pharmacy market as of the end of the Q1 and Q2 2020.

The agency RNC Pharma published the ratings for the leading Internet sites for ordering and selling medicinal products in Russia based on the results for two quarters in 2020. The volume of gross sales made by Apteka.ru surpassed those of its nearest competitor by 7.4 times.

Over the past three years, this service provider has grown by 6.5 times, and in the first half of 2020 alone its number of users increased by 27.5%, and its volume of shipments increased by 38.8%. A significant share of the service provider’s sales now consists of non-medicinal products - cosmetics and health care products - however, the service provided is still that of a pharmacy, and seeks to meet the population’s demand for pharmaceutical drugs throughout the country.

The total volume of the online pharmacy market in Russia as of the end of the Q1 and Q2 2020 was estimated at 63.8 billion rubles. The total sales for e-commerce players ranked in the top 15 over that same period amounted to 46.75 billion rubles: that was more than 73% of the online segment’s total turnover.

Apteka.ru is the segment’s leader in absolute terms; the company's turnover for the period that was reviewed approached 25 billion rubles. Second place, with a noticeable margin between it and first place, was occupied by Eapteka; the federal network Apteka-Timer (apteka-to-sklada.ru) rounds out the top three.
